Head Coach
Kyle Smith

Bio: Kyle is in his fourth full season as Head Coach of PPSC. He has a BA in Exercise Science from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. As a young man, Kyle swam for East Chicago Sharks (Doug Norris), Highland Hurricanes (Brian Towsen) and Bishop Noll Institute (Fr. Jim LaCasse). In 1991, at Bisho Noll, Kyle was a member of the 200m Freestyle Relay that set the National Independent High School Record. Before joining the Porpoises he was Head Assistant Coach for Valparaiso Swim Club, from 2000-2002 and 2004-2006. During his time at VSC he helped develop several Individual and Relay Age Group State Champions, as well as, Individual Team Indiana Quad and Zone Team Members. Since coming to PPSC their have been many Divisional, Age Group State, Senior State, Zone and Quad Team Indiana Qualifiers, Individual State Champions and two Zone Champions.Coach Kyle has been part of three Team Indiana Coaching Staffs, Central Zone Team 2009, 2010 and 2010 Quad Team. 

Kyle has seen great progress and growth within the PPSC Organization and is looking forward to see what lies ahead in the future. Coach Kyle believes there is great potential in all the Porpoises and he believes to reach their goals they need to believe in themselves. "PPSC is about having PRIDE in yourself, teammates and competitors, having and knowing your PURPOSE in everything you do and believing that SUCCESS is rewarded through a strong dedication and COMMITMENT to your beliefs!" 

In 2009 Coach Kyle was voted by his coaching peers, in Region 1, to be their Coaching Representative for IN Swimming Board of Directors. He also serve as Co-Chair for the Indiana Swimming Disability Committee and is a committee member for the USA Swimming Disability Swimming Committee. Kyle is an ASCA Level 3 Age Group and Disability Certified Coach, Certified in American Red Cross CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Certified.

Bio: Coach Adair started her competitive swimming career at the age of 5 and continued to swim throughout her colligate career.  She participated in Junior Olympics, Illinois Zones, Midstates, Senior Championships, and Junior Nationals as an Age Group swimmer in Illinois for Decatur Swim Club.  While at Millikin University, Adair was team captain for 3 years, and placed in the top 12 all four years at the CCIW.  Adair was a Breastroker and Sprint freestyler as a college athlete. She placed fourth in the 100 Breastroke and 6th in the 200 breastroke at CCIW Conference, and 8th in the 50 freestyle.

    Adair coached pre-team children for the Age Group team she swam for as a child for 2 years, taught swim lessons for 10+ years, and was the assistant swim coach for Valparaiso University for 2 years as the Graduate assistant. She has also ran the Swim America program. Adair has her bachelor's degree in Communication from Millikin Univeristy (2004) and a Master's of Science in Sports Administration from Valparaiso University (2009). Adair also has a son, alexander, who will be two in July.

Bio: Coach Ashley lives in Miller Beach, Indiana. She is the oldest of 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Her brother William and sister Abigail currently swim for PPSC. Ashley graduated from Portage High School in 2007. She swam Varsity for Chesterton High School (03-04 Coach Kimmel & Voss) and Portage High School (04-07 Coach Sommers & Caramel). She is currently a full-time nursing student at Purdue North Central majoring in Trauma/Pediatric nursing and minoring in Elementary Education.
     Ashley has worked as a lifeguard for the past five years at Deep River and the local YMCA's. She taught swim lessons at the Portage YMCA for 2 years prior to becoming a coach for PPSC. She also did child care at the Chesterton YMCA for 2 years. 
     Ashley enjoys the outdoors--especially the beach (swimming, boating, jetskiing) and hiking in the dunes. She has a 3-month-old German Shepard/Siberian Husky mix named Jax who means the world to her. 
     Her certifications include Lifeguarding, CPR (Child, Infant & Adult), First-Aid & AED--all through the American Red
Cross.
